Handwovenprayers.
Each mochila is the work of one woman over fifteen to thirty days — woven by Wayuu, Arhuaco and Kankuamo artisans of Colombia, and signed by the weaver.
la mochila
One bag, one woman, weeks of work.
In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the desert of La Guajira, mochilas are woven from cotton or sheep's wool by hand. Every motif carries meaning — a river, a mountain, the path of the wind. No two are alike.
la colección
The mochilas.
Cotton or wool. Crocheted or loomed. Each one signed by the woman who made it.
How to wear them
Worn close, carried everywhere.
A mochila is meant to live with you — over a linen dress in summer, across a winter coat, on the back of a chair at the end of the day. Choose by feeling. Choose the one that finds you.
